Re: What Audrey Kishline Needed But Couldn't Get

Perhaps, Professor, the gasp you refer to below was that of amazement that anyone at all much less someone claiming to be expert in addiction could be as completely out of touch with the reality of addiction as your comments appear to indicate that you are. The mind reels to behold it.

But after the initial shock -something no doubt resembling the stunned and pained effect of unexpectedly encountering an electric eel- there is actually occasion for gratitude. For could it perhaps be that the Creator and Author of all has once more displayed his wisdom by providing us in the alembic of your writings the purest, most concentrated distilled essence of error on the subject of addiction available today, that it might the better be analyzed and studied and effective antidotes concocted therefrom?

The harm of addiction is addiction. Addiction is its own consequence. For details see:

Getting Away With Addiction?

Though some of the faithful excoriate and anathematize you for your truly incredible misunderstanding of alcoholism and other addictions and your indefatigable struggle to turn back the clock by re-moralizing the disease of addiction, I should like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for providing us with such perfect examples of undiluted error. Every sentence is like a precious ore from which an even more valuable essence can ultimately be extracted.

I have fired up my smelters and notified my workers to report for 24 hour duty until further notice.

Just to be clear, what Audrey Kishline needed but didn't get was inpatient detox followed by 3 - 12 months in a residential treatment facility. That way she could have recovered her free will and her identity as Audrey.
