J.L. (e-mail address unknown). (22 June 2000). Dear Person who is playing God. E-mail to Stanton Peele (stanton@sas.nl). People blaming Stanton for Audrey's behaviorDear Person who is playing God, Is alcohol so good that you should jeopardize the lives of innocents, the lives of family, friends, and the potential alcoholic or active in denial alcoholic? Is alcohol that important that you need to recommend to people ways in which they can include it in their lives so that they can partake to reap all the benefits? How does that sit in your soul? I know you've got a queasy feeling inside your stomach...that same feeling that you had when you found out the founder killed two innocents while drunk driving on the wrong side of a freeway? You questioned then what you were doing. If you have to question, I must ask is it worth it? Is it worth it for those few glasses of precious alcohol that you would give poeple potentially false hope? I'm sure you don't even want to think about the potential ill effects of your program. I'm sure it haunts you everyday. There's only one way to cure that empty feeling that you have in your stomach...stop playing God. You really don't have to power to control people's lives. Alcoholism is a very deadly disease. Choose life man...it's not to late! It'd be easy for me to be pissed at someone like you..but really all I can feel is compassion and understanding because I know what it's like to be an alcoholic. Good luck to you my friend. JL
Vince (e-mail address unknown). (3 July 2000). Comment entered at The Stanton Peele Addiction Website. Stanton: Anyone with a drinking problem can declare they are a member of AA - but to be successful in AA- three things are required 1 - Abstain from alcohol and drugs COMPLETELY 2 - Find a powerful loving God in your life 3 - Anonymous Audrey did not believe in abstaining - because like you - she was in denial.Audrey, like you, is an atheist and so her ego wasn't interested in seeking help, and third - an AA never publically declares being a member. You (and guys like Jack Trimpey ) are DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE KILLING OF TWO PEOPLE - but your self centered, selfish, arrogant, narrowminded greed will never allow you to admit your wrong. Neither you nor Jack are alcoholics - so how do you know - simple - you don't.To be committed to AA each day 1 - abstain 2 - pray and 3 - be unseen. Stop blaming your failure at life on AA - and pass that message onto that sicko/emotionally bankrupt brother nitwit Jack T. I enjoy watching you both rip each other up - we at AA are having a great laugh - you FOOLS!!! Vince |
